#ERW2020: Robotics education goes online in pandemic times

The meeting of European Robotics Week Coordinators, ERW, took place online on 1 July 2020 in preparation for the 2020 event.

As we know, to help contain the spread of Covid-19, governments decided to temporarily close schools and implement online teaching solutions. According to UNESCO research, more than 1.18 million students in 186 countries, or 67.7% of the total number of students enrolled, have been affected.

The European Robotics Week – ERW2020 – which this year celebrates its tenth “birthday” – also goes online.

Indeed, euRobotics – the central coordinator of the ERW – encouraged national coordinators and event organizers to propose and share as many online educational resources and activities on robotics as possible: webinars, chats, discussion forums, quizzes, etc. National coordinators and event organizers met online in a meeting moderated by Steve Doswell on how robotics has contributed to tackling the COVID-19 crisis.

From Italy participated School of Robotics, which is the National Coordinator of ERW.

From France in the West, Romania in the East, Finland in the North, Spain, Italy, and Greece in the South, countries across Europe have implemented solutions to provide students with online access to robotics education activities under #ERW2020.
