SEMINAR ON AI ACT, the Artificial Intelligence Regulatory Act

On 13 March 2024, in a plenary vote, the European Parliament approved the AI Act, the law that establishes harmonised rules on Artificial Intelligence, in order to minimise the risks of AI systems, regulating them and banning certain uses of them that are deemed detrimental to human dignity.

As a full-fledged law to be implemented in the Member States, the AI Act determines rights and obligations for manufacturers, distributors and users of AI systems. This law puts Europe at the forefront of the global debate on the benefits, limits and risks of Artificial Intelligence.

The AI Act was discussed at Scuola di Robotica by Brando Benifei, head of the Italian delegation of the Group of Socialists and Democrats at the European Parliament, committed to the issues of digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence as member of the Commission for the internal market and consumer protection and rapporteur of the AI Act at the European Parliament;  Gianmarco Veruggio, robotics scientist, founder of Scuola di Robotica and father of Roboethics. Maurizio Mongelli from CNR IEIIT  presented an application of AI principles in the Horizon Europe project REXASI-PRO and PRAESIIDIUM and Vanessa Orani from AITEK, illustrated the principles of a Trustworthy AI.growth.
